Product Description
The 2880 Timken is a cone designed for a single-row tapered roller bearing. It includes the inner ring and rollers of the bearing. When combined with a separate cup (outer ring), these parts create a complete tapered roller bearing. The cone and cup have conical raceways and tapered rollers, allowing them to handle radial and axial forces in one direction.
Tapered roller bearings prevent sliding movements between the raceways and rollers, minimizing component wear. However, a minimum load is necessary for proper operation. Because the cone and cup are separable, they can be easily mounted, and the axial clearance or preload can be adjusted during assembly.
For reliable bearing operation, it’s recommended to replace the cone and cup together from the same manufacturer to prevent potential problems caused by differences in internal profiles, materials, and tolerances. Always pair the 2880 Timken with a matching cup from the same manufacturer.
